The Ford Mondeo was released in 1993 in three different bodystyles: estate, saloon and hatchback. It was intended as a replacement for the Sierra, taking over its place in the mid-size segment. Since then, Ford has released four Mondeo generations, all with upgraded features and technology, until UK sales ceased in 2022.

Ford Mondeo generations
Fourth Generation (2014 to 2022)
With two decades of production behind it, the fourth generation Mondeo was released with various bodystyles and numerous engine options.
The engine options in this generation aimed to increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The car also needed to compete against the newest crossovers and SUVs, so had to be both stylish and spacious. To increase interior space and cargo capacity, the boot was extended, giving the vehicle one of the largest luggage spaces in its class.

The new Mondeo had some unique styling that brought Ford into a new design era. Ford added straighter lines to its design and placed swept-back headlights on the front.
A new lower grille with a wider style was added, and the new Mondeo measured longer than ever before. This added space made the interior more roomy and better at accommodating passengers on longer drives.
