All available engines feature BMW's EfficientDynamics stop/start feature for better fuel economy.
Petrol- Three-cylinder 1.5-litre 218i with a fuel efficiency of 53.3mpg and 134bhp.
- Four-cylinder 2.0-litre 220i with a lower fuel efficiency of 47.1mpg and 176bhp.
- Three-cylinder 1.5-litre 216d with a fuel efficiency of 68.9mpg and 114bhp.
- Four-cylinder 2.0-litre 218d with a fuel efficiency of 64.2mpg and 148bhp.
- Four-cylinder 2.0-litre 220d with a fuel efficiency of 62.8mpg and 187bhp. This option is also available of xDrive four-wheel drive.
Practicality
- With all seven seats in place, the boot offers 145 litres of space, enough to accommodate a few soft bags.
- With the middle row in the upright position, the boot space increases to 720 litres. With all the passenger seats folded down this increases to a further 1,820 litres which is enough to fit multiple large suitcases and other large items.
- Can fit up to 7 people comfortably with space for three child seats in the middle row bench.
Safety
- The updated model introduced in 2018 brought enhanced safety features as standard including an automatic emergency braking system capable of braking at speeds up to 30mph.
- Whilst the 2 Series Gran Tourer has yet to receive a Euro NCAP rating, the smaller Active Tourer received a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
- Optional safety features include camera-supported cruise control, lane departure warning and automatic main beam.
