The BMW X5 Diesel offers sports saloon handling and performance in a luxury SUV that can hold up to seven people, making it the first choice for many families seeking a prestige people carrier.
The X5 Diesels are the pick of the range, offering the best balance between performance and economy. You can choose from the entry-level 2L, rear-wheel drive 25d model, and the all-wheel drive 30d, 40d and 50d. The latter offer a 3L, six-cylinder diesel unit in normally aspirated, twin turbo and triple turbo versions respectively, all linked to a responsive eight-speed automatic gearbox.
All of the 3L X5 Diesels are available in SE and M Sport versions, the grey sills, wheel arch surrounds and lower bumpers on the former replaced by a sporty body-coloured styling kit on the latter. The SE also comes with climate control, parking sensors, cruise control and automatic lights and wipers. The M Sport adds sports seats, bigger alloys and adaptive sports suspension.
The X5 has lots of room for five adults, with the latest models improving on the amount of head and shoulder room in the back. You can also add an optional third row of seats in the boot, although these are really only suitable for young children.
You can find a great choice of used X5 Diesels on Motors.co.uk.
