In 2006, Citroen released the C4 Picasso, but the Picasso nameplate was previously used with the popular Xsara Picasso models. The C4 Picasso was built to be a more spacious version of the C4 hatchback, and it was in the same lineup as the larger Grand C4 Picasso, giving families a choice on how much room was needed. The C4 Picasso was discontinued in 2018 after two generations of innovations and styling changes.

Citroen C4 Picasso generations
Second Generation (2013 to 2018)
With the release of a new generation, the C4 Picasso had slimmer LED daytime running lights located above the headlights in the bumper. Customers could choose between fog lamps and a hexagonal grille. The panoramic windscreen offered more sunlight and a better view of the road.
A 2016 refresh brought some changes to the powertrain lineup and a redesign of the front of the C4 Picasso. Several chrome inserts were added so that the front end could stand out more. In the rear, new taillights were added that gave the MPV a 3D appearance.

First Generation (2007 to 2013)
The C4 Picasso was released into the untapped MPV market as a larger version of the hatchback. A new design was utilised with a trapezoidal grille, angular-shaped headlights and tall, wide windows for the passengers. A sloped windscreen in the rear complemented the overall style.
During a 2010 update, only minor modifications were made. LEDs were installed to form daytime running lights and the front bumper had a few new components, including thicker chromed lines.

Used Citroen C4 Picasso FAQ's
Which is the most popular engine in the Citroen C4 Picasso?
Diesel engines are more common amongst used Citroen C4 Picassos than petrol. These engines offer a good balance of power and efficiency, with the 2.0-litre HDi 150 supposedly capable of up to 74mpg.
Which is the most popular C4 Picasso model variant?
Citroen offered several C4 Picasso variants, including VTR, VTR+, Exclusive and Exclusive+. The most popular of these is the VTR+, which is an upgrade from the base model with dual-zone automatic climate control, DAB radio, fog lights and rear parking sensors.
What optional extras should I look out for?
You should look out used C4 Picasso examples fitted with a panoramic sunroof, which can change the entire look of the MPV as well as brighten up the cabin. Also keep an eye out for upgraded safety features, such as intelligent beam lights and adaptive cruise control.
Is the Citroen C4 Picasso a good family car?
Yes, the C4 Picasso is a great option for families who need five seats. With three individual rear seats, there's a lot more comfort and flexibility. Depending on the variant level, there are also a lot of tech features for a modern feel.
Is there a hybrid version of the Citroen C4 Picasso?
No, Citroen didn't release a hybrid C4 Picasso before it was discontinued in 2018. However, the diesel engines are quite efficient, with ratings of up to 74mpg and a low running cost.
Is the Citroen C4 Picasso available as an automatic?
Yes, there is an automatic and a manual transmission available with used C4 Citroen models. The manual is more popular, but there are plenty of options for an automatic.
Is there a four-wheel drive version available?
No, Citroen only built the C4 Picasso with front-wheel drive. As an MPV, there's no need for four-wheel drive as the vehicle isn't designed for off-road travel. Under normal driving situations, the C4 Picasso handles well and has a good response, so front-wheel drive is sufficient.
