Used Fiat Grande Punto FAQ's
Is the Fiat Grande Punto a good car to drive?
Whilst today's hatchbacks certainly do a better job, featuring the latest tech and safety standards, the Fiat Grande Punto is still a good option on the pre-owned market. Although the ride is a little firm, it handles well with lots of grip and a balanced chassis, proving ideal for urban environments.
Is the Fiat Grande Punto cheap to insure?
As a supermini, the Fiat Grande Punto offers low cost insurance across the majority of the range. At the very cheapest end, Active models with the 1.2-litre engine sit in insurance Group 4. At the most expensive side, in group 19, is the 1.6 Multijet 5-door Sporting model.
Is the Fiat Grande Punto safe to drive?
The Fiat Grande Punto was tested by Euro NCAP before the overall star rating was introduced, way back in 2005. At the time, it scored a full five stars for adult occupant safety and three stars for child occupant and pedestrian safety. Whilst it is considered a safe car to drive, it's important to note that car technology has obviously advanced quite significantly since then and that testing has become more rigorous too, with a greater focus on safety assist features.
Aside from the Grande Punto, are there other Punto cars?
There are indeed, but it's a slightly confusing evolution and journey. There is the Fiat Punto, first revealed back in 1993, which enjoyed a popular start to become the best-selling car in Europe in 1997. This car was then followed up with the second generation Punto showcased in 1999. Next came along the Fiat Grande Punto, which is actually the third generation of the Punto nameplate, spanning from 2006 to 2010. In 2009, it received a facelift and a new moniker as the Punto Evo. Another facelift in 2012 saw the car revert back to its original nameplate as the Fiat Punto. This version ceased production in 2018. And then of course, there are Fiat's in house tuner specialists, who produced hot performance versions, including the Abarth Punto, the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth, and the Abarth Punto Evo.
How much do Fiat Grande Punto cars cost?
Now only available on the used car market, the Fiat Grande Punto has an average sale price of just £1,722. It enjoys very affordable prices, with a good amount of vehicles to choose from and excellent deals from as little as £400. You can even find low mileage models (around 50k miles) from 2009 for roughly £3000.
