Ford's popular C-Max MPV is essentially a taller, roomier Ford Focus, which means that you can look forward to an entertaining, involving drive as well as a practical people carrier with room for five adults.
Ford C-Max diesels come with a 118bhp 1.5L or 138bhp 2L turbo-charged engine, the larger unit offering the option of Ford's Powershift automatic gearbox. The 1.5 unit is the more economical of the two, with combined economy figures of 68.9mpg, and offers impressive performance that almost renders the larger diesel obsolete.
C-Maxs are well-equipped across the range, with even the entry-level Zetec models offering air-con, DAB radio and 16 inch alloys. Pay a little more for a Titanium and you'll get climate and cruise control, automatic lights and wipers and bigger alloys, while the range-topping Titanium X adds part leather heated front seats and a panoramic roof.
The Ford C-Max diesel can accommodate three adults in the back at a squeeze, or the optional 40/20/40 bench can let you remove the smaller centre seat and slide back the outer seats to create a more comfortable 2+2 arrangement. The Grand C-Max adds an extra 140mm of cabin room to allow a third row of seats. Both models offer generous, if not class-leading, luggage space as well.
