Ford's Kuga compact SUV crossover arrived in the UK in 2008. It was immediately rated one of the best of the new breed of soft-roaders: a chunky-looking family vehicle with a raised driving position and rugged good looks but designed to drive primarily on the road.
The Kuga was available with two or four-wheel drive, and most buyers opted for the economy and efficiency of two-wheel drive. There were petrol and diesel engines available right from the launch.
Two trim levels were designated: Zetec and Titanium. The Titanium was particularly well specified and included touch-screen sat-nav and a Sony DAB audio system with Bluetooth. Automatic lights and wipers were also standard.
Later, a Titanium X model was added and this offered even more kit. If you opt for a Titanium X, you'll get all the Titanium's features as well as 16 inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats, and an ingenious hands-free powered tailgate that operates by waving your foot under the rear bumper. Other features include a panoramic glass sunroof and bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights.
The Titanium X comes with a choice of diesel (two 2.0L TDCi) and petrol (the 1.6L EcoBoost) engines, manual and automatic gearboxes, and two or four-wheel drive.
