The Ford S-Max is a large seven-seater MPV that was introduced in 2006. In an era of boxy MPVs the new Ford seemed to be a new type of sporty people carrier. In Ford's range it sat between the large conventional Galaxy MPV and the compact Focus-based C-Max.
All models are surprisingly good fun to drive, and boast a spacious and practical interior. Owners particularly appreciate the fact that the rear two rows of seats fold completely flat.
Little wonder then that the S-Max was voted the 2007 European Car of the Year. Since the launch there have been constant updates to features and specifications and a completely new generation model appeared in 2015.
The S-Max comes in three trim levels: Edge, Zetec and the Titanium level. Around two-thirds of buyers opt for the top-end Titanium versions. Standard features include heated front and back windscreens, Bluetooth, parking sensors, an MP3 CD player and climate control.
There's a comprehensive range of Ford petrol and diesel engines. The range-topper is a fire-breathing 217 bhp, 2.5L model sharing the engine from the Focus ST.
