Hyundai started launching more crossovers, with the Kona entering the lineup in 2017. The Kona was released to provide a compact alternative to the larger SUVs. It is still in production, and Hyundai has released a second generation and multiple upgrades to ensure that the Kona remains competitive in an ever-growing segment.

Why buy a used Hyundai Kona?
The last few years have seen a massive increase in small SUV sales. These vehicles offer a high driving position, lots of practicality, and perhaps most importantly, good looks! Hyundai has paid attention, and introduced the Hyundai KONA into the small SUV class, competing with the likes of the Mazda CX-3. The KONA offers everything you want in a small SUV while being surprisingly fun to drive. Available at an affordable price point, the KONA is a great choice for those who don't have a fortune to spend. The car also comes with Hyundai's 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, so you won't regret purchasing it.

Different generations of used Hyundai Kona
Second Generation (2021 to 2021)
For a the second generation, Hyundai rebuilt the Kona so that it could accommodate petrol, diesel or electric configurations. It also received a totally new design with an updated bumper and a broader grille, even though similar headlights were used.
Inside the cabin, a more modern style was deployed, with dual displays and an optional head-up display. Hyundai also ensured that the interior was spacious and comfortable enough for a growing family, just like the first generation Kona.

First Generation (2017 to 2021)
Hyundai released the Kona and planned to go head-to-head with the top competitors in the segment, such as the Peugeot 2008, Dacia Duster, SEAT Arona and Nissan Juke. Two light strips were placed on the upper-front part of the Kona and the headlights were mounted into the bumper. Even though there were five air intakes installed on the Kona, only three were used for cooling, while the other two were for styling purposes.
In 2020, a refresh was released with a black 3D mesh grille. There were also new LED headlights added for increased visibility. Inside the cabin, Hyundai installed a digital instrument panel that made the interior look more high-tech and functional.

Used Hyundai Kona FAQ's
Which is the most popular engine in the Hyundai Kona?
Even though there was a diesel engine available, these used Kona models can be difficult to find. Instead, most customers choose the petrol, hybrid or electric models, all of which are quite popular used cars.
Which are the most popular model variants?
Hyundai offers the Kona in several model variants, including Advance, N Line, N Line S and Ultimate. Older models were available in Premium grades, known as Premium, Premium SE and Premium GT. The Premium has proven to be the most popular with features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, climate control, automatic wipers and keyless entry.
What optional extras should I look out for?
Customers should look out for various types of interior materials. Leather seating and a heated steering wheel provide an upmarket feel. The glass roof is also a top choice.
Is the Hyundai Kona a good family car?
Yes, the Kona is designed with families in mind. This crossover features a spacious cabin and a large boot. It also comes with the latest technologies and a variety of powertrain options.
Is there a hybrid version of the Hyundai Kona?
Hyundai built the Kona to use diesel, petrol, hybrid and electric configurations. The Kona Electric can go up to 319 miles per charge, but there is also a plug-in hybrid model designed as a lower-cost option.
Is the Hyundai Kona available as an automatic?
There are both automatic and manual gearbox options with a used Kona. The automatic tends to be more popular, likely because it's the only type that's available with the hybrid and electric configuration.
Is there a four-wheel drive version available?
While Hyundai did offer a four-wheel drive option, it's very difficult to find. Customers who want a used Kona with this added capability may need to do more searching or spend a little more money.
