About the Infiniti Q70
Engines and transmissions
As you evaluate the options for a used Infiniti Q70, there are several petrol and diesel powertrains, including a hybrid configuration. All models are paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and come in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Petrol
- 3.7-litre V6 engine outputs 330 horsepower is the base specification.
- Hybrid configuration combines a V6 with an electric motor to create 360 horsepower.
Diesel
- 2.2-litre diesel engine outputs 170 horsepower and is the cleanest at 129g/km of CO2. It was sourced from Mercedes-Benz.
- Average fuel economy for this engine is rated at 57.6 mpg.
Practicality
The interior of the Infiniti Q70 is more cramped that some rivals, but is still decent thanks to fairly large exterior dimensions. The ride height of the driver's seat seems to be too high for some people, but the cabin can be equipped with some top-end luxuries for more comfort.
Interior space
- Highly-customisable driver's seat lets you find your ideal driving position.
- Rear seats have air vents for more comfort.
- Large center console and spacious glovebox.
Boot space
- Petrol variants have a 500-litre boot space, which is comparable to most large executive saloons.
- Diesel models feature a 450-litre boot space.
- Hybrid models offer 350 litres boot space, with the hybrid batteries eating in the luggage capacity.
- Rear seats fold down to provide additional room.
Safety
- No ratings available from Euro NCAP.
- Q70s include standard adaptive LED headlights, 360-degree parking camera and the Dynamic Safety Shield system.
- High-tech equipment available, such as adaptive cruise control, low-speed collision mitigation, brake assist, lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring.
Technology
- Infiniti infotainment system includes a 2-tier centre console.
- High-tech features are common, such as a navigation system and a Forest setting on the climate controls that makes the cabin smell like pine trees.
- Optional 16-speaker Bose sound system creates an immersive experience.
Generations
In 2014, Infiniti renamed the previous M lineup to Q70 so it would fit in with the updated naming system. With this changeover came many upgrades to the styling, including a chrome-trimmed mesh grille, updated side view mirror and smart LED headlights, taillights and fog lights. In 2019, Nissan (the brand's parent company) decided to pull all of the Infiniti Q70 models from production, so it never made it beyond the first generation.
