Originally unveiled in 2011, the Jaguar F-TYPE was shown as the C-X16 concept car and became a production model in 2014. While it is still in its first generation, Jaguar has updated the model multiple times with either new trim levels or added equipment. Available all-wheel drive was added in a facelift, along with the SVR that uses a powerful V8 engine.

Engines and transmissions
Three petrol engines make up the F-TYPE lineup. All newer models come with an 8-speed automatic, but there's a choice between rear- and all-wheel drive. A six-speed manual option was available from 2015.
Petrol- P300 base trim pumps out 296bhp for a 0-60mph time of 5.6 seconds.
- Supercharged V8 engine (P450) supplies 443bhp for a 0-60mph time of 4.4 seconds.
- Chart-topping P575 outputs 566bhp and hits 60mph in just 3.5 seconds.
Practicality
As a two-seater, the F-TYPE isn't going to be a family car, but it's a lot of fun to drive, especially on a leisurely holiday.
Interior space- Lack of a back seat creates more legroom for front passengers.
- Centre armrest storage contains a 12V socket and USB ports.
- Low roofline adds to the sporty appeal, but cuts into the headroom.
- 300-litre boot space is about standard for this type of car.
- Convertible does sacrifice some boot space owing to the folding roof.
- Shape of boot is practical, making it easier to fit bags and luggage inside.
- Coupé provides an iconic sports car look and feel.
- Convertible allows for an open-air drive.
Safety
- F-TYPE hasn't undergone testing by Euro NCAP, however it does have a range of both active and passive safety features.
- Seatbelt reminders, pedestrian detection and emergency brake assist are standard across the range.
- Entire range has an anti-theft alarm.
Technology
- Digital driver display provides crisp, clear graphics.
- Seamless integration occurs with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system uses advanced technology.

Used Jaguar F-Type FAQ's
Does the Jaguar F-TYPE have a good WLTP economy rating?
WLTP stands for Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure, and rates the pollution levels and fuel consumption of a vehicle. The F-TYPE offers between 26.7 and 29.9mpg with CO2 emissions between 216 and 237g/km, depending on the trim.
Which are the most popular trim levels?
Jaguar has streamlined the trims down to three: R-Dynamic, 75 and R 75. The R-Dynamic has the lowest price. More performance can be found in the higher trims, along with added luxury and comfort features.
What optional extras should I look out for?
Examples to look out for can include extra interior features including 12-way heated and cooled seats with memory, configurable cabin lighting and adjustable performance seats.
Is there a hybrid version of the Jaguar F-TYPE?
The F-TYPE was designed for its speed and agility rather than its commuter capabilities, so Jaguar hasn't created a hybrid variant.
Is the Jaguar F-TYPE available as an automatic?
The newest lineup only comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, there have been models produced with a 6-speed manual that can also be found on the used market.
Is there a four-wheel drive version available?
Yes, Jaguar offers an all-wheel drive F-TYPE, providing more capability on slippery road surfaces. Most used examples are found with rear-wheel drive, however.
How fast can the Jaguar F-TYPE go?
The F-TYPE with the P575 engine reaches 60mph in just 3.5 seconds. It also features a top speed of 186mph. The base trim top speed sits at 155mph.
