Lamborghini is one of the premier Italian motoring companies and the autos it produces defy belief. Known creating for big 'shouty' cars that are outlandish, unmissable and utterly beautiful all at once, the marque is unique and incredibly exclusive. To drive one is to have all your senses overwhelmed, and the result is a grin you won't be able to take off your face!
Started in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, a man who had previously become successful making tractors, the brand's sole aim was to produce a car that could dethrone the mighty Ferraris of the time.
Some of the earliest but most famous Lamborghinis include the 350GTV from 1963, the Miura from 1966, and the Espada from 1969. An early design from this period was the 'gullwing' door; even though it was rejected, the feature would later become an integral and iconic part of the brand.
The company enjoyed huge success with its luxury GT cars right up to the 1970s, and while it would continue, it was during this period that the crazy designs and monster performance cars started to appear. The Countach started the trend with its angular designs, massive engine and larger than life appearance. Arguably Lamborghini haven't stopped since.
The 80s were turbulent times for the brand, but by the start of the 1990s, things were back on track with the release of the Diablo. One of the most recognisable Lamborghinis of all time, no thanks to its 'gullwing' doors, the Diablo was an absolute beast and dominated everything from the motorway to the track.
The 2000s ushered in a new era for the company and modern day 'Lambos' are still as mental as ever, the Gallardo and Murcielago being fine examples. If you're looking to have the living daylights scared out of you, there's nothing better. Big engines, a lot of noise and breathtaking designs mean people can't help but stop and stare with wide eyes and open mouths.
