It has been consistently good since its introduction in 1989, and a few different generations have been released over the years, all powered by big engines. The 4 door saloon is an archetype of luxury and as a result it has been a best seller around the world, but particularly in the USA, for years. The most modern versions certainly look the part, and are equipped with an array of gadgets and gizmos that any techno-maniac would be proud of. An award winner for many years, the LS is just excellent.
The newest models are sleek, sophisticated and very much the car park head turners. Aside from the triumphant Lexus styling, the sheer size of the thing is impressive to behold; it's certainly forceful and dominant that's for sure. Anything less than regal wouldn't be acceptable, and the LS doesn't disappoint inside. There's quality everywhere you look- from the materials to the 5 star equipment list, the comfortable seats, and even the roof mounted TV screens. Acres of cabin space mean it's like a limousine and there's no road noise to speak of. it's the perfect chariot for people who like refinement, although the boot is a bit of a let down.
Some big V8 engines give it more than enough performance, and it can easily go from 0-60mph in less than 6 seconds, which is impressive for a weighty auto. it's relaxed though and almost effortless to drive. Composed and all types of roads, there's not much feel in terms of the handling, but it'll go into corners quite well thanks to a shed load of driver aids and clever engineering. it's actually a lot of fun and packs a decent enough punch.
Top end versions of the LS can easily push £100,000 to buy brand new, but would you expect anything less?
