If you're looking for an MPV that can seat seven and is still fun to drive, look no further than the Mazda 5 Sport. Rear sliding doors make it easier to access the third row of seats and are especially helpful in tight parking spaces.

You can choose from two engines: a 2.0L petrol producing 148bhp and a punchy, economical 1.6L diesel which, despite producing only 113bhp, feels a lot more urgent than the bigger petrol unit. Firm suspension and sharp steering make the 5 an entertaining drive, with lots of grip and little body roll, although it's not quite as supple as a Ford C-Max or Peugeot 5008.

The Mazda 5 Sport comes with plenty of kit as standard, with a CD player, sat-nav, remote locking, electric windows and airbags. Outside you can expect 16 inch alloys along with body-coloured side skirts and a rear spoiler to give it a slightly sportier look.

In the back, the middle row of seats features two larger outside seats and a smaller centre seat which can fold down to create an arm rest or to give better access to the two-rear seats.
