About the McLaren 720S
The McLaren 720S belongs to the Super Series range. It's the second model in McLaren's top supercar line-up, which also includes the 765LT and the McLaren Spider. The 720S is the McLaren 650S' successor and received its badge after the 720 PS metric power output produced by its mid-mounted twin-turbo V8 engine. The 720S design styling was inspired by the great white shark, one of the most powerful and fastest apex sea-beast predators. The 720S wouldn't be complete without its McLaren-limited flair, coming in the form of 90 degree rotatable twin-hinged dihedral doors that sweep both forward and up. The McLaren 720S packs a 7110 HP 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that reaches 62 mph in only 2.8 seconds from rest and hits a top speed of 212 mph.
What can you expect to find in a McLaren 720S?
McLaren offers the 720S in 3 different trim levels, but they're essentially just optional package upgrades. The entry-level 720S is the standard trim. The basic 720S is followed by the mid-range McLaren 720S Luxury and the top-range 720S Performance trim packages. All versions are customisable through the McLaren Special Operations Service. Standard features you'll get across the 720S range include:
- Adaptive dampers
- Auto-levelling LED headlights
- Carbon-ceramic brakes
- Parking sensors
- Rearview parking camera
The McLaren 720S also comes with several performance enhancement features as a standard, such as McLaren's brake steer system and variable drift control instead of mLSD, the more traditional form of a mechanical limited-slip differential. The 720S Luxury trim specification adds a range of standard luxury equipment, including:
- Power-adjustable seats
- Sports exhaust
- Bowers & Wilkins 12-speaker sound system
- Carbon fibre trimming
- Nappa leather upholstery
- High-performance Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres
Go for the McLaren 720S Performance trim spec if you want the fastest 720S variant. Although it lacks the Nappa leather and heated seats in the 720S Luxury, it comes with ambient lighting and lots of carbon fibre trim, which gives it a much bolder look. Besides, for a car that puts a premium on performance and speed, adding a bit of aggressiveness to your 720S is certainly worthwhile.
