The UK's Pathfinder models received a petrol and diesel engine, paired to a manual or an automatic gearbox and standard four-wheel drive.

• 265bhp 4.0-litre V6 engine hit 60mph in 8.6 seconds but had a poor fuel economy of just 20mpg.

• 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder generates 168bhp, with output increased to 187bhp after a 2010 update, providing a 0-60mph time of 10.6 seconds.
• Later models had a 228bhp V6 engine.
• Most efficient models were capable of around 33mpg.

The Pathfinder isn't cheap to run owing to its large size, but it does offer room for up to seven people, has strong towing ability, and benefits from a well-equipped cabin.
