Third Generation (2014 to 2021)
Leaving behind the boxy shape, Nissan gave the X-Trail softer lines and an aerodynamic style in the third generation. There was also added chrome around the grille and an optional panoramic glass roof.
A 2017 refresh provided an enhanced instrument display cluster with a colour screen between the dials. It was also available with heated seats both the front and rear, a luxury not normally seen at this price point.

Second Generation (2007 to 2014)
Introduced in 2007, the second-generation X-Trail didn't look much different from the original, except for bigger headlights and rounded corners. Nissan also added a wider D-pillar to give it a unique look.
