Sitting in the middle of a huge array of trims, the Peugeot 206 Verve is excellent value for money and offers a solid and pleasing approach to motoring that really justifies looking at a previous generation model. It seems to do everything right, from the overall driving experience to the build quality, safety and reliability. There's a decent amount of equipment, and this friendly hatchback is available in 3 or 5 door versions so there's definitely versatility. Under the bonnet are 1.1 and 1.4 litre petrol engines, or 1.4 litre diesels, which alloy for frugal motoring but plenty of perkiness. The Peugeot 206 Verve is definitely a good looking car, and there's nothing bittersweet about it in the slightest. Doing exactly what it says on the tin, you'll find a welcoming and decently comfortable cabin, as well as a myriad of kit such as air con, alloy or steel wheels, CD system, material sports seats, electric windows, remote locking and much more. For a smaller car, the 237 litres of boot space is very generous, and actually practicality is a factor you can't overlook. To drive though, the 206 is full of life and always keen to get going. Around town, on back roads or even highways, it's positive and rewarding. You'll pay £3,000 used.
