The Skoda Citigo was released in 2011, as a mechanically identical twin of the SEAT Mii and Volkswagen UP!. While these three models were mechanically identical to one another, the Skoda version came with a waterfall-type grille and wider headlamps than the others. Skoda decided to discontinue the Citigo in 2019 while it was still in its first generation, in order to focus more heavily on the EV lineup.

Engines and transmissions
There are several powertrain options available with the Citigo. Used examples can be found with a couple of different petrol engines paired with either a manual or automatic gearbox.
Petrol- Entry-level 1.0-litre three-cylinder produces 59bhp and takes 14.4 seconds to go from 0 to 62mph.
- Higher-performance 73bhp variant reduces the 0-62mph time to 13.5 seconds.
- Equipped with GreenTech (stop-start technology), the entry-level 1.0-litre engine returns up to 67.3mpg, with the higher-output motor offering up to 65.7mpg.
Practicality
Even as a city car, there is a large amount of interior space. The carmaker has made good use of the space, making the Citigo a decent family car.
Interior space- Tall adults can fit in the front seats, and drivers will be most comfortable with the available height-adjustable seat.
- Two adults can fit in the back seat, but it is best suited for adults who aren't tall.
- ISOFIX child seat mounts are found in the two back seats, but they are easier to access on the five-door model.
- 251-litre boot is one of the largest in the segment, providing enough space to hold some shopping bags.
- 60:40 rear split seats increase the boot size to 959 litres in the five-door variants and 951 litres in the three-door models.
- Four bag hooks included in the boot to secure cargo.
- Three-door Citigo has a sportier appearance.
- Five-door Citigo offers easier access to the rear seat, and is better suited for families.
Safety
- 2019 Euro NCAP crash test rating is three out of five stars.
- Child occupant has the highest rating of 83%, while adult occupant is at 81%.
- Standard safety kit includes four airbags, and City Safe autonomous emergency braking is available.
Technology
- A USB port and 12V socket were available in some models.
- Available removable navigation system could be mounted to the included cradle found on the centre stack.

Used Skoda Citigo FAQ's
How does the Skoda Citigo perform?
The Citigo has a surprising level of energy for such a small car. It feels stable with its firm grip on the road. It offers a composed and supple ride, which you'd normally expect only in a larger car. Its small size, combined with a refined build and suspension, make it a suitable vehicle for exciting manoeuvring around tight city streets and twisting B-roads.
What is the running cost of a Skoda Citigo?
The Citigo is as cheap to run as it is affordable to acquire, so running costs can be kept down. It has low insurance group ratings, affordable spare parts and fixed-price servicing. For fuel economy, even the most power-hungry engine in its lineup delivers a good range of around 47-59 mpg. The less powerful engines push between 64.5-78.6 mpg, which you can further increase by opting for the start/stop technology.
Is the Skoda Citigo a good car for daily commuting?
Anyone looking for a low-cost, small car to get around the town or daily commuting to work or school will find that the Skoda Citigo is a good option for them. It is also suitable for young drivers or first-time car owners because of its low speed, and it's also economical to maintain.
Is the Skoda Citigo a comfortable ride?
Although it is a small car, the Citigo is surprisingly roomy, a feature that even modern city cars often find challenging to overcome. It has sufficient space to comfortably seat 4 adult passengers, up to around 5 foot 9 inches. The front has a minimalistic dashboard that helps make it feel a bit more spacious and airy inside, too. Although passengers might struggle to get inside the rear seats of a 3-door trim, they'll find the ride is quite comfortable once inside, even on a long journey or the motorway.
Is it easy to use the infotainment system in the Skoda Citigo?
Initially, Skoda offered an infotainment system only with top-trim vehicles. However, most drivers found them a bit overly complex to operate. In response, Skoda redesigned the dashboard-mounted Gamin-system and made it more user friendly. In 2017, Skoda joined up with Volkswagen to offer smartphone apps, turning your phone into an instant touchscreen control for the infotainment system. The app makes it very easy to use the infotainment system features, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and satellite navigation.
What is the safety rating of the Skoda Citigo?
The Euro NCAP crash-tested the Skoda Citigo and awarded it a 5-star rating in 2011. However, the rating dropped to 3 stars in 2019 due to stricter testing requirements. However, the Skoda Citigo has a range of standard safety equipment available, including 4 airbags. You can also get several optional safety features, like City Safe, an autonomous emergency braking system.
What are the alternatives to the Skoda Citigo?
The SEAT Mii and the Volkswagen Up are the closest rivals to the Citigo, partly because both are sister cars built on the same underpinnings. Although similar in build, they do have slightly different physical appearances. VW also offers a petrol-powered turbo and electric motor in its lineup, which Skoda lacks. Besides these, nothing else is significantly different among the 3 related models.
