With no engine to worry about, you can also make the most of the Model Y's 'frunk' under the bonnet which offers an additional 117 litres of storage space that proves handy when storing the car's charging cables or smaller bags of luggage.

Despite the car's sloping roofline, passengers will be left with little to complain about, with sufficient amounts of head and legroom for adults throughout. Tesla has also considered those that regularly tow additional bits of equipment, with a respectable braked towing capacity of 1,600kg - make sure to find an example with a towbar though, as this came as an optional extra when new.

Safety

Designed for safety, used Tesla Model Y examples come with a host of safety equipment to provide a high level of active protection while out on the road.

The likes of collision avoidance and automatic emergency braking come as standard, while the autopilot system uses front, rear and side-facing cameras to provide further peace of mind. Technology

The most noticeable of the gadgets will be the 15.4-inch touchscreen that stands out in the mostly minimalistic interior. 'Enhanced autopilot' and 'Full self-driving capability' are further features to look out for when browsing the used market, as these were expensive additional options when new. 'Sentry mode' is another intelligent system that records and alerts you of suspicious activity around your vehicle when it is locked and parked.

All in all, you'll be hard-pushed to find a used EV that's as well-equipped as the Model Y when it comes to onboard technology. They're not compatible with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto though, so you'll have to make do with the car's standard infotainment system.
