The Toyota Auris arrived in the UK in 2006 as a replacement for the Corolla hatchback, while the saloon model retained its name. After a new generation in 2012, the Auris continued in production through 2019 before it was replaced once again with the Corolla nameplate. During the updates provided by Toyota, the Auris remained refined and fun to drive, making it appealing to younger drivers or those looking for a first car.

Engines and transmissions
Toyota provided several different power options for the Auris, including petrol, diesel and a hybrid. There was the option of a manual or an automatic transmission, along with standard front-wheel drive.
Petrol- 1.8-litre hybrid configuration produces 134bhp and is capable of up to 72mpg. This is the most popular engine choice.
- 1.33-litre engine makes 97bhp with a rating of 52mpg.
- 1.2-litre engine is the more powerful, creating 114bhp with a 0-60mph time starting from 9.8 seconds.
- 1.4-litre makes 88bhp for a 0-60mph time of 12.1 seconds, this is the slowest version of the Auris, but fuel economy of up to 72mpg made up for it.
- 1.6-litre outputs upwards of 110bhp and is capable of up to 67mpg.
Practicality
The Auris has more interior room than it appears, making it a practical car that's also affordable.

- Lots of front and side visibility creates an open cabin experience.
- Adults can fit well in the back seat.
- Rear ISOFIX points for installing child seats.
- 360-litre boot is larger than the Ford Focus, with the hybrid not taking up any more space.
- 60:40 split rear seats create 1,200 litres of boot space.
- Larger Touring Sports estate model has more space.
- Hatchback design is handy for loading and unloading.
- Five-door hatchback named the Auris from 2006 to 2019.
- Longer Touring Sports estate added to the lineup in 2013 and was available until 2019.

Different generations of used Toyota Auris
Second Generation (2012 to 2019)
For the second generation, Toyota gave the Auris a bolder appearance with more angled headlights and air scoops on the front bumper sides. The V-shape grille gave it a sporty look, and a variety of wheel designs allowed for more customisation.
A 2015 update helped the Auris meet Euro 6b emission standards and provided a new front bumper with a lower, wider grille. This redesign added LED Daytime Running Lights, offering enhanced visibility.

First Generation (2007 to 2012)
The Auris was released to take over the Corolla hatchback lineup, leaving the popular nameplate to cover just the saloon models. Toyota used the letters '-is' in the name so that it would relate to the Avensis and Yaris. With the new nameplate came a completely upgraded style, designed to specifically appeal to younger buyers.
In 2010, a refreshed model arrived with sportier bumper designs on the front and back. A downward V grille was also added, though the profile looked the same. Some models came with a roof spoiler, which added some aerodynamic benefits that lowered emissions.
