About the Tesla Model S
Tesla Model S debuted in 2012 but arrived in the UK in 2014 as a game-changer. The car's appearance was anything but outlandish, which is not surprising for an American outfit. However, regardless of the version you opt for, you will find its performance as addictive as it is practical. Tesla Model S is also a fast car with the base power option, the 75D, capable of getting to 62 mph from a standstill in 4.2 seconds and a 140 mph top speed. When you opt for the 100D, also known as the Performance trim in new models, you get an acceleration of 2.5 seconds and 155 mph top speed.
What should you expect to find in a Tesla Model S?
The early versions of Tesla Model S were differentiated using their battery variation with the older versions classified as 60, 85, P85 and P85+, before Tesla moved to the more powerful 75D, 100D and P100D range. Since 2019, Model S is only available in 2 trims, Long Range and Performance. The standard features in these later versions are:
- Full LED rear lights and fully-adaptive LED front lights
- 17-inch touchscreen
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- Heated electric mirrors and seats
- Parking sensors
- Sat Nav
- Isofix child seat anchor points
The top-range Performance trim, formerly P100D, comes with a European-centric saloon setting, with 21-inch wheels as standard. Other features available in this spec level are:
- Adaptive air suspension
- Sports seats
- Autopilot
- Tesla theatre
The 2019 and later Tesla Model S versions offer dog lovers something useful with the Dog Mod feature. When activated, it maintains the car's temperature when parked to keep your pets, especially dogs, adequately warmed up. Even though it is primarily a safety and security feature, it has an external digital display showing passers-by how cool your ride is, literally.
