More Vauxhall Astra Information
The Vauxhall Astra has been on the UK's roads since 1979, and since then there have been six generations of this tried-and-tested popular small family car. Also available as a hatchback, the first Astra Estate could be specified with either three or five doors.
The second generation in 1984 was voted European Car of the Year and lasted on sale for seven years. The third generation estates arrived in 1991, the fourth in 1998. By the time of the 2004 fifth generation and 2010 sixth generation, the Astra estates had evolved into sleek, practical and sophisticated load carriers.
The sixth generation estate was called the Sports Tourer, arriving in 2010.
The most recent Sports Tourer is a medium-sized family car with a large boot and plenty of very useful storage cubbyholes dotted around the inside of the car.
With a relaxed and refined ride, the Astra is suited for both every day errands and long distance travel. There is a wide range of petrol and diesel engines on offer. Trim levels vary from the workman-like to the luxurious Elite level.
