A mid level of trim, the Vauxhall Astra Active is a hugely popular hatchback that really does do everything you'd want from this kind of car. Nothing but stylish, well equipped, decently practical and excellent to drive, there's clearly a lot to like about it. Refined and composed out on the road, it's actually quite up market and feels good all round. Versatile enough for family use, it's safe, reliable and always keen and eager to get going. Engines include 1.4 and 1.6 litre petrols, as well as 1.7 litre diesels.Definitely impressive in design, the Vauxhall Astra Active celebrates a return to form for the British automaker, and actually stands up to be counted in a very competitive class. Inside the cabin you'll find a good amount of space, strong finish and great levels of comfort; boot space is 351 litres. Nicely equipped, there's air con, alloy wheels, CD stereo, cloth seats, driver aids, airbags, remote locking, electric windows and more. The driving experience is positive and there's some responsive steering on offer, and no shortage of grip. Well balanced and nicely lively, used prices are £11,000.
