The Volkswagen Passat CC is a compact coupe version of the hugely impressive flagship executive car. Slightly larger but considerably lower than the original, it's stylish, sexy and quite sporty. Offering a shed load of cabin and boot space, it'll seat 4 in comfort and is no less practical than its older sibling. Very sharp in terms of design, it's a legitimate contender to the established premium brands, and definitely turns some heads.
Revealed in 2008, the 4 door coupe has proved hugely popular around the world, but especially in the US and UK. Updated in 2010 with some design face lifts and the addition of BlueMotion technology, it's available in 3 trim levels- CC, CC GT and CC GT VR6. A multitude of engines options can be found, the common rail diesels in particular being exceptionally good. However the 3.6 litre V6 petrol is just brilliant quick and comes with the 4MOTION 4 wheel drive system. There really isn't an area that lets the Passat CC down.
It is similar in design to the original model, but the CC is noticeably lower and sleeker in profile. It really does look phenomenal and has heaps of attitude. From the glowering front end to the sharp lines along its body, there's a bit of a rake to it which only accentuates its sporty persona; the colour schemes are also clearly from the palette of a master. Inside the cabin, things are very similar to the regular Passat, however the addition of a sporty steering wheel and seats make it feel different. There's no question the build quality and overall finish are incredibly high, and this evident in the clean and concise controls, exceptional comfort and a spectacular amount of kit. With a 500 litre boot, it's practical enough for families as well.
The driving experience is much the same as the styling- sharp and sporty. It handles brilliantly thanks to an adaptive chassis and clever engineering. The balance is remarkable, and as such it's perfectly poised on the road and provides a huge amount of feel. A comfortable and relaxing ride most of the time, push a few buttons and it becomes flexed, more agile, and altogether more fun. The decent engines make it go, and the V6 really does give it something to be proud about.
There's no doubt that the VW is a great car, but that doesn't mean you have to pay top dollar for it. Buying pre owned can actually get you the same thing for a small fraction of the cost, which is the definition of a bargain. As you can see, the range of used cars for sale here at Motors.co.uk is quite considerable, and each one is of good quality. Get more bang for your buck with a second hand Volkswagen Passat CC and enjoy driving an exceptional auto for much less.
At the end of the day, Volkswagen didn't really need to play about with one of its best selling cars, but it did and the resulting Passat CC is simply fantastic. Awesome designs both inside and out, excellent performance and superb all round practicality make this an auto to be proud of. High flying executives and families will be over the moon with it, and for good reason- it's another masterpiece from a company that never seems to go wrong.
