Engines and Transmissions
The first C40 includes two electric motors, one in the rear and another in the front, to produce 402 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard on these crossovers. It features a 0-60 mph that’s similar to the XC40 – around 4.5 seconds. Starting with the 2024 C40, there’s a new rear-wheel drive model with a 78.0-kWh battery pack to create up to 297 miles of range per charge. The all-wheel drive twin-motor design remains. 2022 and 2023 C40 models had a battery capacity of 69-kWh, so the newer models provide a longer drive range.
Electric- Models are equipped with dual electric motors (1 front, 1 rear) – delivering up to 402 horsepower, with either RWD or AWD.
- Single-speed automatic transmission provides instant torque delivery.
- Maximum driving range of 297 miles per single charge provided with battery size ranging from 69 to 78 kWh.
- At best, the C40 has a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds.
- 150-kW DC fast charging time for the 2022 and 2023 is 80% in 40 minutes, while the 200-kW DC fast charging time for the 2024 is 80% in 28 minutes.
Practicality
The C40 is just as practical as the XC40 Recharge, with slightly more front headroom. Seating for five is supportive and the interior features high-class materials.
