The Volvo XC40 has been available with petrol and diesel engines, as well as hybrid powertrains. There is a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes, along with front-, rear- or all-wheel drive.
Petrol- 2.0-litre turbo-four mild hybrid (B3) generates 160bhp, hitting 60mph in 8.3 seconds.
- B4 increases output to 194bhp, reducing the 0-60mph time to 7.4 seconds with a seven-speed dual-clutch.
- Older and more affordable T2 produces 127bhp with a 1.5-litre engine and the only manual gearbox.
